Your secure documents should be one of your top priorities when it comes to your safety. Not only do you have to worry about identity thieves, but you also have to worry about your address and name ending up in the wrong hands. This is why we take the time to shred our paperwork as opposed to just throwing everything away. There are times when there is way too much paper to shred and it can be hard to find a solution. Most cities will have a shred event a couple of times a year to help the citizens of your area get all of their secure documents destroyed without having to pay. Most will ask for a donation, but it is still much cheaper than having someone come to your location, or even dropping your paperwork off at a location.
Are these shred events safe though? The nice thing about shred events, is the fact that you get to physically watch your documents being destroyed. This allows you to feel safer about leaving your documents at a shred event. When you show up there will typically be a lot of people with their documents waiting to put all of their things in the truck as well. Once it is your turn, you will bring your documents up to the industrial size shredding truck and watch everything getting destroyed right in front of you. You may also receive a certificate of destruction for your records just to verify that everything was properly destroyed.
